The first generation 1987-2007 Kawasaki KLR650 is a legendary bike for good reason, it is simple, reliable, and can do everything. Unfortunately it relies on a magneto-type ignition system that can cause hard starting due to weak spark at starting RPM, and is prone to source coil failure on the stator which can leave you stranded with no easy fix.
